Thinking about moving to Crouch End in London?

Here is the Van Girls guide to Crouch End and some things to think about regarding your move if you make the big leap!

The Lifestyle in Crouch End

As our local centre for independent coffee shops, boutiques and shabby chic bars and pubs, Crouch End is a favourite with the Van Girls.  Our favourite with the Van Girls

Our favourite place for a coffee is Coffee Circus, with its eclectic mix of furniture, exhibitions of local artists work and stonking coffee!

Then, after a long week the Van Girls crews have a tendency to end up in Earl Haig Hall, an old British Legion Club, which has been lovingly turned in to a great local boozer with a big selection of ales.

Crouch End is renowned for being a family friendly area and there is always lots going on if you have kids to entertain. The cafes are all family friendly and there are also a selection of beautiful independent children’s shops on the high street such as Soup Dragon and Niddle Noddle!

There’s also a lot to do in the evening including two great new additions to the area. You can check out the latest offerings at the Art House Cinema and then head to Muddy Boots meat shop for a glass of wine and cheese and meat platters!

SCHOOLS, TRANSPORT AND AMENITIES IN CROUCH END

There are lots of good schools in Crouch End so check them out to see where you want to live if this is your priority!

To name a few, Coleridge and St Gilda’s RC Primary Schools were both rated Outstanding by Ofsted, as well as Horsey School for Girls and Highgate Wood Secondary Schools being rated Good.

Crouch End doesn’t have a tube station! This is part of why it’s such a nice place, peaceful isolation. But, never fear, there are plenty of ways to get in and out. It’s got good bus links, an London Overground station at Crouch Hill, National Rail stations at Hornsey and Harringay.

The high street has a Waitrose, Budgens, Tesco and M&S as well as enough independent grocers, butchers and health food shops to avoid them all if you prefer! There is also a farmers market every Sunday at Alexandra Palace. That is well worth a mooch.
